10 Years Analysis Of The Animal Oil Market

Animal Adrenal Oil
The markup on the adrenal oil market has always been consistent average of 102%, sales dropped in 2014 from an average of 250kPED to 150kPED per month.

Animal Brain Oil
From 2010 to the end of 2012  the market raised up to 160%, in 2013 the market dropped to an average of 115%. The amount of sales heavily fluctuates every few years, but slowly the average amount sold has lowered over time.  In 2016 sales dropped to below 10kPED, but has since recovered to above 25kPED.

Animal Eye Oil
The sales trend has slowly fallen over time from 800kPED to 200kPED in a 10 year period, but is still a great market to get started in with at least 175kPED sold every month. The average markup on this market has mostly remained stable between 102% and 103%.

Animal Heart Oil
Just like brain oil, the market prices for heart oil raised up from 2010 to 2012, and began to fall back down in 2013. The market average is around 107.5%. At the end of 2012 the market peaked at an average of 135%. The most recent fluctuation in the amount sold had been between 10kPED and 50kPED per month.

Animal Kidney Oil
In the last 10 years the market settles at an average markup of 102.5%, but from time to time the prices have risen above 107.5%. Sales in the last 5 years average around 125kPED sold per month.

Animal Liver Oil
The average markup in the last 10 years around 102 to 103%, with only 2 peaks of 106%+ in that time. The average amount of sale took a drop in 2013 from 275kPED to 125kPED per month.

Animal Muscle Oil
Due to this being is one of the most commonly used resource, in 2013 when the animal oil markets dropped in sale, the markup dramatically went up to a high of 110%. The Average markup for this item is normally a low 102%. Before 2013, the average sales was 700kPED per month, now the average is 350kPED per month.

Animal Pancreas Oil
In the last 5 years the sales have been a stable 100kPED per month, and the markup on average has been a stable 101.5%

Animal Spleen Oil
Unlike the the other markets so far, this market is currently on a high peak in sales, since 2017 sales have risen to 350kPED from 75kPED per month. The markup since 2017 is also high, above 110%. Before 2017 the last peak in sales was 2014, and the last peak in markup was 2013. At the markets lowest point the markup was an average of 103%.

Animal Thyroid Oil
In 2013 sales in this market dropped from an average of 400kPED to 100kPED sold per month.
The average markup in the last 10 years has been 102%, but in 2014 markup raised above 105% for 2 years before returning to 102% in 2016.

Market Demands
Currently the animal oils in high demand are adrenal, eye, kidney, liver, muscle and spleen. The animal oils that are in very high demand are eye, muscle and spleen. Animal eye oil is the most brought item on the auction. Animal spleen oil is currently the second most brought item currently, but demand is slowly falling, with markup and demand being high acquiring animal spleen oil should be hunters priority while the market is good for both demand and markup.

Industry Prices
The current cost of construction is very low in almost all of the animal oil markets, and most of the commonly used animal oils have been very stable at a low cost for bulk amounts for years. It is a really good time to buy animal oils and take advantage of the lower than average market costs. Spleen oil is the only major exception, although its demand is high, the cost currently is more than averages.

Investment Options
With almost all of the animal oil markets being low in markup, now is a great time to stock up on animal oils for when the next market markup spikes happens in each individual market. The main market to target currently is animal eye oil, as there is a high amount of supply, currently bulk prices are below 101% on the auction.

Guide: Trading Basics

This guide will teach you about the basics of trading, this is not only good knowledge for traders, but a fundamental aspect to all professions. Whether you are a hunter, miner or crafter, your success is down to your ability to trade.

Even if you are not a trader, you should make friends with a few traders! It is always better to have a selection of people you can sell to. Even with harder to sell items, simply store them and wait for that one person willing to pay you a markup!

Traders in Entropia not only always pay a markup on items, but many resellers sell via the auction generating a revenue for the planet owners and Mind Ark via auctions fees, one of many parts sustaining the existence Entropia.

Calculator At The Ready

It is always to handy have a calculator ready, most people have a phone to hand, and every phone has a calculator, even the older phones.

Limited And Stack Items
In the places where you find traders trying to buy and sell items, you will normally see a percent given for limited and stacked items. This percent represent the amount to pay compared to its trade terminal value.

For example, if you are buying or selling 2.00 PED trade terminal value of an any item for 102%, 2.04 PED is what should be payed.

To calculated this on a calculator, you would input: "2.00 x 1.02"

"TT Value x Percent".

Unlimited Items
Because unlimited items can be repaired at the trade terminal for PED directly, percents can not be applied in the same way as limited items or stacks.

The method for selling unlimited items is simply the trade terminal value of the item plus the desired markup.

"TT Value + Markup".

If you have 30 PED and want to buy an unlimited item with a max trade terminal value of 25, buying the item for "0+5" and having to repair "25", is the same as buying "25+5" at full value. They both will cost you 30 and the outcome is the same.

Local Trade And Trade Channels

In the bottom left corner of the chat window, to the left of where you enter text, you will be able to change chat channels by clicking on the chat channel link.

[Local] chat is designed for general talking, and [Trade] is like [Local] but designed for calling out wares and trading.

There are a number of custom global channels also designed for trading, which allows you to call out to a much bigger group of people, but because many use these channels, they can be very active with other traders, and messages move up faster.

If you wish to contact someone, simply click on their name link in the chat window. To send someone your location in a way point link, write "/pos" or "/p" into the chat window.

To learn more about the chat interface, click here.

Methods Of Trade

To trade with someone once you have located them, hold right click or "F (Default Control)" for a few second on their avatar. Once the context menu appears select private trade.

When the trade window is open, drag your offer to the bottom of the trade window from your inventory. You will see what the other person is offering in the top of the window.

Once both have agree to a trade, click on the tick button at the bottom of the window. Next a confirmation screen will appear, double check what are about to trade, and if you are happy click on the tick at the bottom of the window. The "C" button will clear the window. The "X" button will close the trade.

Your PED Card is found in the the top tab of your inventory. To exchange PED, right click on your PED Card in your inventory, then click Extract PED. To put PED as coins back on your card, drag and drop the PED to your card, or right click the coins in your inventory.

PED does not go directly go to your PED Card after a private trade, they will appear in your inventory as coins. The trader terminals and auctioneers only deal with what is on your PED Card, and ignores PED in coin form.

PED from auction sales will go directly onto your PED Card. PED from land areas, shop pads, shop and deeds will go to your "PED Flow Center", which can be transferred directly to your PED Card.

Auctioneers are located at many of the settlements and outposts across Entropia. The auctioneer will display what is being sold on the auction, and for a small fee, you can have deliveries set up from other planets. You can also place items on the auction on the planet your on for 7 days for a small fee.

There are a number of shops and malls located across Calypso, at these place you are able to buy almost anything that is on display. On Calypso the easiest mall for any new person to view is at Port Atlantis, which is just east of Camp Icarus.

Shop pad can be located on any player owned land or in any apartment. Unlike shops, apartments are unable to sell what is in the apartment on display, but shop pads are able to be placed and used. Shop pads provide 20 item slots and allows the storage of any item for an unlimited time to sell to other players.

It is good to explore, even as a trader, you never know what treasures you will find going for cheap in some hidden shop pad in someones apartment on a remote part of the map. Entropia is not just a way to spend or invest PED, it is a living breathing universe.

Services

There are many opportunities to earn PED, people provide many forms of services for a fee. Healing, taxi, colouring, texturing, hair cuts and plastic surgery are some of the services that are available.

Healing
Healing is one of the easiest services to get started in as basic healing tools are provided by doing some of the beginning missions.

The cost of this profession is down to the healing tool being used, unlimited items can be repair at a console with no markup cost, for limit items, it is down to how much markup you pay.

To profit, you want to be above this cost of the healing tool, and you want to be effective with the tool you use.

Taxi
With a Quad-Wing Intercepter (L), Space Thruster (L), Oil, Vehicle RK-5 (L) and Welding Wire you have the ability to traverse space safely, and with this, the ability to taxi people to other planets for a fee.

To profit at this you simply have to cover the cost of the Space Thruster (L) and Oil consumption from planet to planet.

Space itself is a loot-able player verse player (PvP) zone, because of this, you will want to make clear to the person you are flying that everything in the "Materials" and "Resources" tabs (hunting & mining loot tabs) of the inventory can be looted in space, and if they do carry loot it is at their own risk. You also should not carry anything in these two inventory tabs.

Vehicle RK-5 (L) and Welding Wire are essential for space flight. It is not a matter of if, but when you will get shot down, and it will happen if you fly in space enough, you will need to be able to repair your ship and continue with your passenger. Without this tool, you and your passenger are in real danger of getting trapped in spaces needing a rescue.  Just as importantly always check your Oil!

No skill is involved in simply flying from location to location, only time, as space is big.

Although a Sleipnir (C, L) can fly in space, it is not recommended to taxi people in space in it. The Sleipnir (C, L) is a very slow vehicle and will take longer to reach your destination. You are also more likely to be shot down due to its slow speed.

Crafting And Customisation
Crafting items to orders, and customising items for a fee is not only a way to make PED but it is also a way to add visual content and expression to the world, allowing people to have their own unique look. Many items offer the ability to customise, if a (C) exists in the items name, it can be customised.

The cost of this profession depend on the costs of the paints, textures, and the degrade of the tools. Painting and texturing have their own separate tools. People can provide their own paint, which can cut back on cost. Skill is highly involved in this profession.

Hair And Beauty
With an apartment or land and the particular chairs designed for hair cutting or plastic surgery, you can charge people for hair cuts, hair colouring and provide plastic surgery. This allows people to adjust how their avatar looks under all their cloths and armour.

The resources required and the cost of the degrade on the chair and tools are the main costs to this profession. People can provide their own hair colour, which can cut back on cost. Like colouring and texturing skill is heavily involved hair and beauty.

To Be A Trader

To be a trader is easy in concept, you just have to keep track of what you spend and earn. Earn more than what you spend, and your winning. All the usual phrases would apply here, like "Buy low, sell high!". If you are good at trading in other MMORPGs, you will easily slip into the role as a trader in Entropia!

You have to be smart with what you can get for what you got, you will need to be pro-active yet patience, and your prices will need to firm yet flexible.

The prices for any item can fluctuate over time, not only this, but there is a vast difference between buying on the street, buying bulk amounts, and buying retail amounts.

Another important aspect to trading is being social and making friends, with out letting people know what you want to buy and sell, how will people know what you want to buy and sell?

There are many types of people in Entropia, from people who just like to hunt for fun now and again to people who are serious full time players. More than often people tend to return to people with friendly helpful attitude for trading.

Here is a real example of how the social aspect can effect trading:
"A few years ago I sold Oil at Camp Icarus when I had a constant supply of it coming in, while I was advertising that I sold Oil, I repaired peoples vehicles for free.
Not only did this help people to continue using their vehicles, consuming more Oil in the process, but also people saw me as a friendly face, and was more likely to return to me for Oil.
The amount of Oil sold covered the cost of repairs and also led many people to return and continue to trade other items with me."

Common Trading Questions

Do people really pay that much markup?
The simple answer is yes, they do. The more complicated version of this answer is down to supply and demand, markets values can fluctuate over time and there is a price difference in the amount sold on the auction. Just like in real life, buying in bulk is cheaper. Just like a shop selling chocolate bars, you do not pay the value based on the whole box, just the bar, and the shop must make enough for

What is a good resource to start trading in?
Animal Eye Oil and Animal Muscle Oil are perfect to start trading, not only are they the most traded items in Entropia, they do not need refining before crafting and can be brought and sold directly as they are.

The next step up from that is Lysterium Ingots and Belkar Ingots, These two are the next most traded items in Entropia, just below Animal Eye Oil and Animal Muscle Oil. Ingots are easier to sell than ore, and any ore brought will need to be refined.

Iron Ingot and Caldorite Ingot are the next most sold out of all the resources. These resources are harder sell than the above resources, not only because less are brought, but each single unit has a bigger trade terminal value, this makes it harder to to adjust the percent in the auction. These resources also need to be refined if brought in ore form before selling.

Because of the high market activity of these resources, all these resources are perfect to get started with a small quick turnover, the profit on these will be small, but constant. Other resource tend to be sold in bigger bulks due to their slower market page.

What is what percent?
The best way to get a good idea of the current prices is to look on the auction, the auction with the lowest buyouts on an item is the bulk price of that item. These stacks tend to be the biggest on the auction. Street price is always below bulk price. Smaller stacks on the auction tend to go for higher prices, this is retail price.

What is not good to resell?
Items that are valueless to the system, some of these for an example are: Vibrant Sweat, Blazar Fragment, Nova Fragments, Calypso Bone Samples (Mission). If you intend to buy valueless items, it is best to buy to use, not buy to resell.

If you are looking to invest into something, you will want security, this is provided by the system,
if you spend 101 on 100 PED of resource at trade terminal value, at worse you will lose 1 PED.

If you spend 101 PED on Vibrant Sweat, and the price suddenly drops to half its value, you will lose 50.50 PED.

Goodbye Fort Isis: New land developments

Over the last year further land developments for player housing have taken place with a number of new empty allotments ready for player to purchase popping up across Calypso.

These new allotments are only obtained with the ownership of 9 or more Calypso Land Deeds, once claimed the Calypso Land Deed will display an (X) and will no longer be able claim again but will still continue to earn weekly revenues. Although most of the prime land areas are now taken.

There is a total of 60,000 Calypso Land Deeds. Fifty percent of the gross revenue from Planet Calypso is divided evenly among all Calypso Land Deeds.

The new Gardening System is also now available to estate owners. The Omegaton Acorn gardening box was introduced in October, allowing fruit growing capabilities to land owners.

In the development we say goodbye to Fort Isis as new teleporters appear. Roughly in the same area where Fort Isis used to exist we now see Fort Lahar, and to the north Hestia, one of the many allotted places reserved for player housing popping up around Calypso.

The robot war: Persistent attacks!

Earlier last year MindArk implemented a new dynamic event system, which has been used to create a number of Robot Invasion events on the planet Calypso, almost a year later we now we have seen the further implementation of this across Calypso...

The robot war continued to rage on with more aggressive attacks on outposts and forts. Attacking such locations as Fort Pandora and Fort Medusa. Just like the other Forts, Fort Lahar had a nearby robot spawn which triggers a pre-event after enough robots have been destroyed.

Currently the robots have been pushed back and now the CDF forces are interrogating an RX scout imprisoned at Cape Corinth to discover the locations of hidden RX Caches containing powerful technology.

The RX scout has been nicknamed 'Silent Stan' by CDF soldiers because of his strong resistance to interrogation. Currently Cape Corinth residents are deeply worried, fearing the capture will cause robot reprisals as the RX forces are gathering outside Cape Corinth and are preparing to attack the city!

The CDF suspect the RX forces are preparing to remove and re-conceal RX caches, in case 'Silent Stan' reveals their secret locations whilst under interrogation. Groups of RX are also gathering in desert areas surrounding Fort Medusa and Fort Pandora.

The CDF has asked citizens to help push back the attacks on Cape Corinth and continued aid in locating and retrieving the RX caches.

Arkadia Deeds: Major price rise

Over the last few months a number of Arkadia Underground Deed owners have noticed a massive rise in not only daily deed payouts but also market prices. No longer than 3 months ago deeds prices on the market was 60 PED, currently the market price is just dropping from a peak price of 90 PED. That is a 50% raise in less than 3 months.

A number of sources have speculated this is down to new high markup treasure existing on Arkadia, which has led to a number of miners migrating to Arkadia, in which case I speculated that the deeds will not hold this new high prices for long as this new loot starts to dissipate into the public's hands, which the signs are already showing.

ComPet: Trading

MindArk has announce a new system enabling Entropia Universe players to supply pets to ComPet players in return for PED will be available soon.

The first tradeable cross-platform pets will be ‘level-up pets’: pets that can only be used for leveling up existing pets in ComPet. ComPet players will be able to level up their pets faster using this method, so this will create a market for trained ‘level-up pets’ within Entropia Universe.

The ability to transfer ‘regular pets’ to and from ComPet will be introduced in future releases.

ComPet has now been fully released on Android, and is planned for release on iOS and Steam within the next few months. With huge anticipation a number of people are waiting on the first ComPet Deed payment, with no current indication of when the first payment will start and no current knowledge of the deeds paying daily, weekly or monthly.

MindArk has stated, "Entropia Universe is the primary product and focus of MindArk, and will continue to be so. In developing ComPet as an alternative gaming experience, MindArk has added an offering to complement and promote Entropia Universe. This is an effort that MindArk would like to continue, expanding and complementing Entropia Universe with new projects and experiences, thereby creating interesting and exciting growth opportunities in the upcoming year and beyond."

Unicode: More languages available

You have may have noticed a change in the font on your sticky notes as you type onto an older sticky note, this is due to an update in Entropia's font.

Even though this is just a small snippet of an update, it has huge implementations. While the old font still exists, the newer font (Arial Unicode MS) allows the support a wider range of characters and languages, such as Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Hindi, and more. This opens up Entropia to countries where the font was previously unsupported.

Battle Simulator: Arcade action!

The Battle Simulator is for everyone and will be instantly accessible via the Entropia Universe event list under global instances. Players will compete under identical conditions, with standard skill levels and weapons/ammo which are applied upon entering the simulator.

It is a stripped-down, old-fashioned arcade action assault course where finishing and getting the fastest time is all that counts. Only your reflexes and strategies will determine your place on the leader board and the prizes you win.

Completing the Battle Simulator course gives access to a special loot crate. Unclaimed loot from other players uncompleted runs may also increase the total value of the loot crate. Completion times will also be entered into the Battle Simulator weekly leader board, where participants compete for additional rewards.

After testing the simulator myself, I can tell the simulator is still in its early phases and a few bugs exist, so I have come up with a few tips for anyone trying the battle simulator out to avoid bugs and have a better experience:

  1. Before you start, zoom into first person view, and make sure you have a targeting cross hair.
  2. Avoid pressing space bar! You will automatically flip to mouse mode when the game starts, normally the space bar flips the controls between mouse and cursor mode, but in the battle simulator it turns the controls to cursor mode without being able to turn it back to mouse mode and it gets replaced by a jump button. This glitch will ruin your game.
  3. Aim the cross hair slightly above your. The aiming is slightly off.
  4. Keep moving! Health is very hard to restore in the simulator and you only get one chance.
  5. Be fast! The game is all about trying to finish before everyone else does, so kill fast and keep moving forward.
I wish good luck to everyone who takes part in the battle simulator!

Teleporter Tokens: No Go!

MindArk officially announced that the Privatization of the Teleporter System will not go ahead in Entropia Universe.

The MindArk management team has reviewed the proposal made by the President of Virtual Reality and owner of Rocktopia "John Jacob Neverdie" concerning teleporter fees, and has stated that such a system does not complement the current development plans for Entropia Universe and therefore will not be implemented.

However, the proposal was very interesting, and aspects of it may find their way into future planned systems and features where participants would be more receptive to optional fees that provide enhanced convenience and utility, although it is not states what this enhanced convenience could be.

This has made a lot of people sigh in relief as teleportation tokens will make it very hard for people to get about, especially traders who travel about to advertise wares and new exploring players with very little but a pack full of sweat.

Compet: Deed prices and beta released.

This month has been a mixed month for the Compet game. The release date was held back seven days before the beta testing period of the game, although it is not the first time the date has been held back. In the last week deed prices went up on the web store from 100 to 120 PED per deed, a number of shop owners not knowing would of been a bit slow in reacting resulting in flash sales and at a loss compared to the new market price. Currently the deeds can not be brought from the web store while the close beta is running, the deeds can still be brought on the auction currently around 130 PED each.

The general reception of the game in beta is quite good overall, and if Mindark marketing goes well, Compet can become a great pet fighting game in years to come. Currently the game has inactive moment when it comes to battling other players, but this is due to the game being in beta and will have a limited user base. There has been a few small complained about equality of battle for newer creatures and the speed it takes for a player to level up their creatures.

Originally it was intended that Compet would be a close beta for the deed holders only, but anyone with the link to the beta game currently has access to it, as it is not currently not linked to Entropia anyone can sign up and play using an email account or Facebook, and a number of places have posted its download link location publicly.

In the ComPet Shop, players have the ability to increase their PED balance through real-cash deposits. Deposited PED can then be exchanged for gold and diamonds in ComPet. Gold and diamonds are ‘soft currencies’: they do not represent real-world monetary value. It is perfectly possible to play ComPet using only the soft currencies.

President of Virtual Reality: The people's thoughts.

This month has been a hard month for Jon Jacob Neverdie, many have slammed him and the election process in Entropia, leading many to think this was a self proclamation. Many people in the forums of Entropia have complained about the process of election, complaining that originally all voting process should of been handled in game with the old voting booths and that it was originally intended for deeds holders. Many people question the process and authenticity of the election and many people have complained about the fact that they could not put their money forward themselves to be apart of the process, along with the other two contenders having effectively zero information about their own campaign.

Jon Jacob Neverdie created an open post on Entropia forum to be slammed by the many people and their view on the teleporter charge along with other complaints about Entropia economy in general. Neverdie has........ A number of the older Entropians have even talked about boycotting Rocktropia altogether. The small amount of player who have decided to boycotting Rocktropia would have a very small to no effect on Rocktropia economy.

Other than talking to the Entropians, Neverdie has been on a press tour around about his campaign for creating jobs in virtual reality, a small amount of press has appeared about this, but not much in the way of headlining. A number of press articles exist just equally dismissing his claims for virtual jobs as a pipe dream at the cost of the average player.

Hunting Season.

This month Icarus was overrun by Marcimex deep from underground. The subterranean terrors have never been seen above ground! Sightings have even been reported from as far out as Jurra Plateau and around Twin Peaks. Many people hunted these creatures until they have now returned to their underground lair.

It is just over a month away until the migration season and many people are getting geared up to hunt the Eomons and Longtooths while they migrate. Keep a close eye on CDF pheromone reports of the migration paths.

Here is a recap of 2015 migration:

Longtooths:
67912, 83266 - Young.
67564, 83554 - Old.
66972, 83944 - Providers
66456, 83972 - Guardians

Eomon youngs
87767, 79922 - Young.
87877, 79833 - Young, mature and old.
87864, 79937 - Provider and guardian.
87854, 79846 - Old alpha.
87879, 79794 - Stalkers.

Within the next month we are expecting CDF pheromone report, and if anything is made public within the next month, you will hear about it here.

Entropia Market: What has happened in a year?

The Deed Market:

The last year has been and interesting year for the market prices of some of the items in the Entropia Universe. The webstore have finally sold out of Arkadia underground deeds (AUD) this year, and as expected the prices went up.

It has been two years since the web store opened for the sale of 200,000 deeds to the general public, originally each deed would of cost 50 PED on the web store, offering the ability to earn 5% of Arkadia Undergrounds profits divided between 200,000 deeds. After the final deeds were sold, the price instantly went up on the auction over night to 75 PED. Since then the price has slowly dropped back down to a steady 60 PED.

Arkadia is not the only deed to do well this year, Calypso land deeds have gone up in value by 130 PED since last year due to the land grab on the original deeds. Once a player has 10 Calypso land deeds, they can claim a property on calypso, adding an (X) on the end of the deed. These deed will still continue to produce revenue but will be lower in price on the auction by about 100 PED.

As for Compets, we are yet to see the pricing and payout times, the speculation is that it will be weekly payout just like the Calypso land deed. Just like Arkadia and Calypso before, the price on the auction will only be a two or three PEDs above the web shop price, and I would assume just like the other deeds before it, that when the web shop runs out, I expect the price to rise up to about 120 PED.

The Consumer Market:

Force nexus, mind essence, and sweat have remained a steady price over the year. The current acceptable average price for swear is 1.7 PED per K among the sellers, but remember that anyone who sweats for a few PED is always looking for a few pec extra. A few people take advantage of desperate players looking for a quick sale to resell, and some players are willing to pay 2.0 PED per K.

Here is a bit of advice from an older player who remembers when sweat was 12 PED per K, this market is all supply and very little demand. If you sweat enough the buyers will come to you, older players looking to buy sweat know where the newer players hang out, so keep you eye out for the best buying price when sweating and sell for that price. The more you have from waiting, the better the PED you get over all from sweating.

Nutrio Bars have been sold the 260%-300% markup, costing almost 3 times the TT price, we are yet to see what happens after the android app is released in 10 days, currently everyone is stuffing their pets to have a funky companion anticipating whats to come next. The street price of fruit can be between 13ped - 15.5ped per K. The sweetstuff markup has remain very steady around 116% on auction over the last year.

Oil had a week of low sales, as low as 40.47 PED sold in one week this month causing the 110% price hike a few week ago, the price has returned to the usual 104-105%, with the robot invasion at Orthos oil field having very little to no effect on the market price compared to last year.

Robot wars: What happened to Orthos oil field?

After hearing a few whispers from here and there about there being no more oil line at the small rig without killing robot, I just had to investigate...

When I departed from Entropia last year, there only was the odd scouting robot attacking the famous line at the oil rig, before that, only other players attacked now and again, with the older and stronger characters protecting the line, it was no problem at all.

Suddenly the oil rig was attacked by a swarm of a slightly heavier class of robot. The robots built their own rigging structure, and today oil is only acquired from the rig by killing these robots. The protecting player and the riggers could not hold off the robot invasion leaving the oil field to the robots.

This major change has not had any effect on oil prices, and as with the flux of new colonist that will be arriving from Compets, new player will have to go back to earning skills and sweating.

President of Virtual Reality: The future of Entropia.

You may not know it yet, but "Jon NEVERDIE Jacobs" has set into motion a number of plans to be implemented by 2020!

"Jon NEVERDIE Jacobs’ Plan to Create 3 Million Jobs with ‘Public Transport’ IPO. Job Creation Strategy Includes Revolutionary Model to Recruit Gamers to Combat Artificial Intelligence, Introduce Minimum Wage Standards in Virtual Worlds, Privatize the Public Transport System and Launch a VR Stock Exchange."
http://www.presidentofvirtualreality.com/ -
So what does these implemented jobs entail you may ask? As far as details, we do not know, but here is what we do know. NEVERDIE wishes to make a privatized transport system and in doing so by 2020 all free teleportations via the teleporters scatter across Entropia must be paid for in transport tokens, which will be constructed. This will open some opportunities, a new crafting item, more chanced for private transport hire, and a public transport system, paid for by via a minimum digital wage provided from the transport funds.

Things start to get a bit hazy over info behind the construction and conscription system. 25% of the funds will used to support the war against AI, which to me sounds like a funky addition to the hunting system, where you can get paid per hour to do protect teleporter constructor and repair teams and kill robots invading the area.

That is not all, NEVERDIE intends to also bring out a public transport share for the new transport system, and to usher in an old concept that was never quite implemented before on Entropia, the stock exchange! People will be able to buy and sell stock in Entropia, and not only in game but in another new app. The details on this are also vague, and it will be interesting to see if this will make an improvement over the already existing auction.

Finally, and the most complicated of all, NEVERDIE wishes to make Entropia cross platform by creating plug ins for games and worlds developed on a variety of graphic engines, including Unreal, Unity and Lumberyard and emerging Augmented Reality applications using HoloLens or Magic Leap that might otherwise stand alone.

I do not know about anyone else, but feel sorry for the other unknown contenders. I knew for sure that NEVERDIE would win the votes, he is the most well known avatar in Entropia, ever since NEVERDIE became a legend in 2008 for mortgaging his house to buy 'Club NEVERDIE' now known as 'FOMA' and entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the most valuable virtual item ever owned costing $635,000. After a year he had profited on his investment and paid back his mortgaging. NEVERDIE later sold FOMA and established NEVERDIE studios and which is the owner Rocktropia.

Compets: Ten days away until release!

With the release of Compets in just 10 days, everyone is very eager to find out what the game will be like. Mindark have made quite a few comments about Compets during its development, and a ton of information about the game can be taken from the screen shots of the gameplay footage.

This is the information I know about what we should be expecting. Each player will own their own village which can be raided by other players as stated by Mindark. In the screen shot above we can see the set up and speculate what we can expect. Along the top from the center to the right, we have 3 forms of resources, gems, PEDs and gold. In the top left we have the players rank or level with the protection time from the next raid, under that I would assume to be pets and max pets. The bottom left looks like quests, achievements, and battle. The bottom right looks like statistics, friends and a prize or shop button. Behind this building we can see a building icon in the village, plots can be built. I can assume that one of the buildings will be used to generate gold because of the maximum gold resource at the top.

Here we can see 3 types of battle modes, we already know about raiding and arenas, I am going to take a guess that forest mode is like training, fighting wild animals. There is not much I can say about the battle sequence itself, other than it looks to be a turn based arena style game. We have yet to see raid mode and forest mode.

From this image we know that we will be able to buy combat skills from the library in game. We can not tell if this will be a building constructed in game or a menu. But what we can tell is a few of the statistics that the creatures will have in game. Each skill will have a cool down time and some skills will cost mana. There will also be stamina, which seems to be one of the factors to victory.

One thing I do know for sure is there are quite a lot of people looking forward to fighting their pets which have followed them around in Entropia for a while. There is not much news about arenas within Entropia but hopefully as soon as the app is released, the arenas should open too!

The social stuff...

I set up a Facebook page ages ago and never mentioned it, share, subscribe, like, jellybean:

I know some of you have missed me, and its thanks to the people who have spoken to me in game and left comments that I am back here. It is good to be back, and I look forward to writing next months issue and battling some people with spike my pet sapphire devil!

Issue 2: Line at the big rig.

Entropiazine
A Monthly Entropian E-Magazine.

In this week publication of Entropiazine:
Interview: The insides of the dominating land grab society.
News: The successful line created at Ashi Rig (Big Rig).
Quests: Good advice on quests for new players.

The successful line created at Ashi Rig (Big Rig)!

Most new people with and agility level of ten and above will most likely know about the small oil rig just above Camp Icarus, the burned charred area known as the Orthos oil field.

Most of the skilled player verse player characters hang around at the big rig, where killing for oil is actually worth it. At the small rig at Orthos killing the line is not worth the oil, you spend more PED killing than you do gaining in oil. The people who spree and kill the line at the small rig tends to be blowing of steam or just a bit of fun for the more skilled players, from what I have learned talking to the line killers.

This line created at big rig was not the first line created at the big rig, a line like this has been created twice before, but never as publicly shown as the image above. A number of guards set out to defend the new people from the harder avatars around the big rigs, as everyone lined up for a ton of oil!

Now if anyone tells you a line at the big rig is not possible, you now know otherwise, all it takes is peoples willingness to share.

The insides of the dominating land grab society (WhySoSerious).

Earlier this month I was able to find a member of the society that owns all the land areas, it was a great pleasure to get an interview and to find out more about the workings of the land area and the society it self.

The society is a small band of 30 people as stated in last months issue, but only about 20 members make the core of the groups, of which these members are online most of the time. Some of the members of the group know each other in real life, so it seems to be quite a close group of friends.

"Linzey: We are very close, it becomes your second life this game!"

The land areas are taxed but it is not much money is made, most of the fund raised from land areas goes into player verse player gear. For one year there was no or very little contestants of the land areas...

"Linzey: For a year was not much shooting then was decent profits."

... but now the society has to defend more today, which means ammo use and equipment repairs are needed once again to keep hold of the land areas on Calypso in land grab events.

"Linzey: To me its just the fun!"

The funds from land area tax gets shared out in the society, but little is known of the details behind this.

Quests: A guide for new players.

Sometimes I forget how weak new players on Entropia, once you have been in Entropia a while, you character will get stronger very slowly, it is almost hardly noticeable. Recently I have been helping a group of my friends who has recently started themselves and its a nice surprise to see that I survive a lot longer in general, especially when most of my life on Entropia had been solo.

Here is some great advice for new people who have just started:

  1. Sweating; the most basic of skills in Entropia, everyone can sweat an animal, and being new with not a single PED on your card, you will find quickly this is one very small source of income on Entropia. The best way to sweat s to get nice and close, and take plenty of hits from the animal you are sweating, this will give you more skills in other areas which help in combat. The main skill that helps in sweating is evasion, the more you get hit, the more evasion experience you get, the less you will get hit in the future. In a good group of people sweating, people should be in a nice tight circle around a animal to stop the creature moving, because every time the animal moves, you will lose your target, and fail to get sweat. It is also good to note here, everyone wants to sell sweat, but only a few want to buy sweat. My advice for sweat selling, is to hold onto it until you find someone who actually want to buy it, and hold out for the best priced buyer. You will only kick yourself if you sell for 1.7 in haste when a 1.8 buyer can turn up 10 seconds later. Plus every sale at a lower price makes buyers think they can buy it at a lower price in future effecting who economy as a whole for sweat. After you have a few PED from sweating try catch a flight to Boreas, You will find a sweating group there most of the time. The next location, which will yield less experience then Boreas but more sweat is Neas Place, which is further to get to and costs more for a pilot.
  2. If you are returning after being away for a bit, you may notice a ton of vehicles have been added to Entropia. There is a simple mission where you can get a car for free, any new player gets this car from a beginning tutorial mission. If you have not got your free car, you can visit the Calypso Gateway at the end of the middle pier at Port Atlantis. The Calypso Gate is classed as a different planet, so anything stored here will remain here. One of the common problems I hear is that new players lose their car here, if you lose your car, it automatically returns to the storage after being a way from it to long. If you lose your car at the Calypso Gateway, you will have to return for it.
  3. Mission that give away free universal ammo are hiding about.... On the other side of the map! Once you have PED from selling sweat, try get a flight to Half Moon Bay, on the beach will be a mission there that will give you free ammo. After that follow the road out of Half Moon Bay to Cape Corinth Market, you will find a few mission along the way, all easy and rewarding. You can also convert shrapnel into universal ammo, right click and convert. Note: shrapnel can be sold and traded where universal ammo can not!
Skill takes time and sometimes PED to build up, focus on what you can do heading to what you would like to do. This simple 3 step guide should help new people get some basic equipment and skills to get them started, and it will also help people who have been away for a while and returned get some goodies for returning.

Entropiazine 1st Issue

Entropiazine
A Monthly Entropian E-Magazine

In our first publication of Entropia Zine:
Market: Avoiding the dead skin markets.
History: How did humans come to be on Calypso?
Property: Land grab areas owned by one society.
News: Pet fighting for mobile devices and ComPet Deeds.

Publisher's Comments:

Hello, I am [Felix Zell Shallow], most people know me in game as just Felix. It has been a long time since I returned to Entropia. The Cry-engine update did as I expected, and knock quite a few of the big players out of the game, and returning to what feels like a whole new game, I was one of these players.

I come from a time in Entropia when people used to taxi other people by foot to teleporters on a single planet and sweat was 12k per PED. Im sure many of the other older player will remember and still call Entropia Universe, "Project Entropia".

A lot of things have changed in Entropia in the last few years. The most well known is the ability to drive vehicles, with a huge range to selection to choose from, from good old fashioned off road 4x4's to space ship, and everything in between

For the the people who hardly know me, I am the leader of the society Entropia Market, once a quite well known group of traders which used to hang around Atlas Haven, Twin Peak and Port Atlantis. Sadly along with the update, like most players at the time, and many other societies, became dead.

Even though Entropia has changed a lot over the last few years, the basics of trading are exactly the same, and I was able to jump straight back in where I left off, setting up new contacts and making new friends along the way.

The main reason I am writing this E-zine is to help to improve the game as a whole, the economy of this game is widely based on the value of its players and the way MindArk controls and represents its own product. With that in mind my goals are purely to enlighten younger players and enhance the economy of the game by pointing out things that attention should be drawn too.

Thank you for reading, and hope you find it enjoyable and helpful inside Entropia!

Avoiding the dead skin markets.

One of the unavoidable annoyances of any hunter is not being able to sell their loot. New player may scrap their items for quick PEDs at the trade terminal, but for an old experienced played this can lead to a very big stack of items that can not be traded!

This is highly important to understand, for something to have a value, someone must have a need for it, and Entropia's structure for hunting, mining and crafting is based on this. The main reason for the lack of people wanting to buy such stacks of items is simply down to the lack of demand for the items in the game. A good example of this is Snablesnot Skins, last month had no sales on the auction, and I know it is not down to supply, With the some people offering trade terminal price for it at auction, with not a single bid.

The problem could be one of three things, there are hardly any people who craft, which I very much doubt, or hardly any blueprint which use theses items, or the product that is produced is not in demand. No matter where the lack of demand stems from, the market for these stackable items seems to be a dead one currently in Entropia.

To the hunters, I recommend to avoid assuming that you will be able to sell these stacks of items at all, it would be a waste of your PED on the auction fee to place these items on the auction if no one is buying at all. Be prepared to sell these items to the trade terminal, or stack them for a while longer, to see if the market returns.

How did humans come to be on Calypso?

In early days humans traverse their own star system, their home planet of Earth was ravaged for resources to the point of where recycling was a necessity, a number of the planets in the humans home star system were terraformed and colonized including many of the asteroids in the asteroid belt.

The furthest reach of human expansion was not far away from their home star. It was not one but a number of technologies that proved to be needed to cross the great void of space to the next nearest star. The Odysseus project was developed, seven huge unmanned probes built in orbit designed to travel vast distances, probe planets, and construct bases ready for human arrival. The probes main technological advancements, a mixture of shielding, AI and jump rail technology.

Once one of the probes uses its jump rail, which is a one use technology, it jumps vast distances to a location. On arrival the probe begin surveying and constructing drones in orbit, the drones go about mining and constructing bases for human arrival, then finally when the base was self sustaining the probe would constructing itself new jump rail to jump to a new location. Once the base reached a certain size it would be able to construct it own Odysseus probes. One of these spin off technologies from the project is used quite commonly today, the teleportation technology has erode many barriers in for the human race, not only distance, but also culture.

In the spirit of space travel humans followed the probes trail in massive colony ships adorned with their own jump rails headed for Calypso....

Land grab areas all owned by one society.

It may be a little know fact that land areas can be owned be by society leaders. At this current moment in time, all the land areas on Calypso are owned by one small society. So why is this such a big deal? I hear you ask. Well, all the land grab area create a revenue in hunting, mining and trading taxs, as well as settings for pvp and radar of the area. All this revenue goes the leader of a society the society that owns the area.

Now, what if I told you that all the land areas are owned by one society? One small group of 30 people in the society "WhySoSerious", currently do own all the land areas on Calypso.

This month I met up with KATILA, the well known estate owner on Entropia, as the details of the ownership of the areas was revealed to us, and the nature of the society owner. A KATILA reported to me, the owner of the area was willing to cut a deal for the land area, as number of well equipped, skilled members of "WhySoSerious" stand ready. I personally will not disclose any details of this deal, apart from a price was laid down to claim ownership from the society.

It would be interesting thing to see if this deal was agreed to or not, in the next month or so. It would be even more interesting to see some other competition to steak a claim on one of these land areas.

Pet fighting and ComPet Deeds.

Unless you have been living under some natural stones for last few months, you would have heard about about the pet fighting game coming to Android. Little is known about the pet system to come to Android but what is known, is the mixed view from the community about it. From a small poll done on the forum about who will try/play it at least once. 44.04% are totally not interested in the app what so ever, but the rest are interested in at least trying this Android application out!

Currently not much is known at all about the battle system, or how the game play will play out, but what is known is the fact the auction is littered with ComPet Deeds, and pet are once again running around following their masters.

One thing is for certain is people are uncertain, about deed payouts, when this application is coming, even how much to price a pet for sale, how to get a whip to tame, it is all so new and unsettled and it shows. Once the whip can simply be brought from the trade terminal, but today can only be crafted, It will be interesting if this will remain crafted or will it be available to all via the trade terminal.

Mindark's first Android app was not received very well, lacking some wanting features and many hope that this application will not be another bad side tool to Entropia Universe.
