End of the migration season and iron missions

With the Eomon pheromones lowering wildlife will be returning to normal, marking the end of another migration season on Calypso, and with the year grace period up, we also say goodbye to the old iron mission system on planet Calypso.

Just over a year ago the new codex system was introduced. Last year it was announced that the old mission system was being replaced by the new codex system, a grace period of one year was decided to allow Entropians to complete both codex and as much of the iron missions as they can before the switch over, this also allowed Entropians to complete last years and this years migration season iron missions.

The old mission system has remained in place, with the removal of iron missions and a few other kill chain quests, keeping storyline missions. The codex will now become the main hub for all hunting challenges and rewards on Calypso.

The future plans for the other planets in the system will be to adopt the new codex system over chained hunting missions. A similar grace period will take place as the other planets move from one system to another.

VU17: Gameplay Updates

Some less well known updates to the game play elements have been added in the version update along with the graphical update and the new tool tier system.

Trading
A few changes have been made to the displaying of information on items to the display, the current trade terminal value of attached attachments is now displayed in the base item’s tooltip info and prices and markup are now displayed in the tooltip info when hovering the mouse over items in a shop or shopkeeper.

One of handy feature that has been added to help protect items from accidental trade. The button to toggle the ability to protect an item can be found in the item info window. Items that are protected will show a “P” on the item icon status bar.

The name of equipped weapons and tools with a condition below 10% is now displayed in yellow text in the dashboard.

Entropia Exchange
The "Share Center" has been renamed to the "Entropia Exchange", which can be accessed by right clicking your PED card in your inventory.

Buy orders have been added to the Entropia exchange. Buy orders always match the lowest available price first. Buy orders will match older Sell orders first if there are multiple Sell orders with the same price.

A market history graphs and transactions tab has also been added to the Entropia exchange, to displays a history of market prices, share transactions and revenue payouts.

Turrets And Destructible Environment
The best part of the recent version update by far is the changed to turrets. Creatures killed by automated turrets, drowned, or despawned by the system will return loot in the form of Shrapnel, when appropriate.

Destructible environmental items now also provide loot in the form of Shrapnel. Destructible explosive items that cause damage to nearby creatures transfer their loot to the damaged creatures.

Update from the Colonial Xenobiology Institute

The Colonial Xenobiology Institute has reported on the update of the locations of the Daspletor and Cornoanterion that are slowly damaging the ecosystem.

The Daspletor was once the terror of the Ametheran wastelands considered to be extinct. The DNA from these creatures was later used to recreate these creatures in self contained bio-labs on the space stations above Calypso, The Daspletor are a giant, carnivorous animal relative of the Fugabarba. Considered to be at the top of the food chain, they can ran quickly on powerful legs and could bring down any animal easily.

Just like the Daspletor, the Cornoanterion was recreated using DNA in the bio-labs. The Cornoanterion are four eyed creature with a number of large twisted horns protruding from it head and upper torso. Cornoanterion are highly aggressive with the ability to charge at high speed

Update from the Colonial Xenobiology Institute:

Daspletor and Cornoanterion have spreaded near Fort Ithaca.

Updated Locations:

Daspletor near 69436, 87091
Cornoanterion near 68758, 87168

Original Message from the Colonial Xenobiology Institute:

Help protect Calypso’s ecosystem from the potentially devastating effects of these two dangerous and aggressive predator species!

Hunting challenges for these two creatures can be acquired from Hunting Challenge Terminals all over Calypso, or from Simo Hayna on the asteroid F.O.M.A.

Current Locations:
Daspletor near 86118, 84189
 Cornoanterion near 86913, 84790

Alien Creatures In Space Transport Crash On Calypso

A cargo ship was forced into making an emergency landing near west of Minopolis today with cargo which is deemed dangerous for the ecosystem by the Colonial Xenobiology Institute.

In the initial investigations a possible malfunction in the security systems on FOMA allowed the Daspletor and Cornoanterion to board the ship while docked before the travel to Calypso, catching the pilot unaware.

The Daspletor and Cornoanterion have reportedly escaped from the cargo bays on the ship and with fears growing over these two species having a drastic effect on the ecosystems the Colonial Xenobiology Institute has issued an urgent request for assistance.

The fear that Daspletor pose a severe threat to the native flora and fauna of Eudoria is not unfounded, previously the Daspletor had the same effect in some regions on the continent Amethera.

Currently the two species can be found relatively near the landing site. While the Cornoanterion have remained in the woods to the west, The Daspletor have wandered down to the desert regions south-southwest of Minopolis.

Message from the Colonial Xenobiology Institute:

Help protect Calypso’s ecosystem from the potentially devastating effects of these two dangerous and aggressive predator species!

Hunting challenges for these two creatures can be acquired from Hunting Challenge Terminals all over Calypso, or from Simo Hayna on the asteroid F.O.M.A.

Current Locations:
Daspletor near 86118, 84189

News: The Eomon And The Mul

The Colonial Xenobiological Institute has studied possible reasons for the Mul's behaviour for several seasons. The studies show that members of all Mul tribes assemble to take part in rituals. The purpose of the rituals is believed to be a rite of passage connected to the annual Eomon migration season.

The Mul mutants on Calypso aggressive behaviour during their seasonal rituals have been suggested to be connected to the rise of Eomon pheromones in the atmosphere. The Mulmun tribe in particular seem strongly affected by these pheromones.

The Eomon are the real giants of Calypso. Their annual migration across the continent of Eudoria, The north continent of Calypso was discovered years ago, but the Eomon's origins and the purpose of their migration currently remain a mystery.

The Mul tribes are actively attacking several settlements on the continent, this is usually seen as a precursor to the migration season.

The Calypso Defense Force are currently collecting intelligence on the development of Eomon and Longtooth activity on Eudoria, and have reported current Eomon pheromones levels at monitoring stations are currently low, but have been raising rapidly.

Peak pheromone activity have been detected at the Calypso Defence Force monitoring stations at Oseres, Nymphtown and Fort Ithaca.

The Eomon migration continues to be a popular seasonal hunting event for new and seasoned big game hunters, the large Eomon migration is an annual event on Calypso.

The predators that follow in the wake of the mighty Eomon herd, are the Mul participating in their right of passage.

During the Migration period Longtooth also migrate across the continent of Eudoria, which are also a popular hunting target in this season.

The Eomon is an incredibly massive animal with four legs needed to support its own weight. A hard skin armor combined with its size is enough to keep most predators away, making this one of the largest herbivores on the planet.

The Longtooth is a form of Exarosaur that is very rarely seen on Calypso. Scientists from the Zoological Institute believe its appearance along with the migration season is somehow connected with the overall life cycle of the herd. This is as yet unconfirmed and the Longtooth remains a fascinating mystery.

Every Tuesday and Friday EntropiaZine will be releasing updates of the location of the Longtooth and the Eomon as we follow them threw their long voyage across the continent, click here to see the latest updates.

Event: Summer Mayhem 2019!

The Mul mutants on Calypso aggressive behaviour during their seasonal rituals have been suggested to be connected to the rise of Eomon pheromones in the atmosphere by scientists at the Colonial Xenobiological Institute . The Mulmun tribe in particular seem strongly affected by the pheromones.

At the center of the Mulmun ritual an Ascended Mulmun become highly agitated and extremely powerful, however these temporary powers also renders him immobile standing in the center of the area where the Mulmun rite takes place.

In order to determine which Entropians can defeat the Ascended Mulmun the fastest and win one of the Summer Mayhem prizes, a timer will start when entering the Mulmun ritual area in Assault mode.

In addition to getting the shortest Assault time, it is also possible to compete in Annihilation mode where the participants who gather the most points will win prizes.

Assault Mode:

Performance in Summer Mayhem Assault is time-based. The objective is to kill a special immobile Assault Mulmun Ascended boss creature as quickly as possible.

The Assault Mulmun Ascended boss is immune to damage unless a special buff is active. This buff is received after killing an elite Assault Longtooth, and allows the Assault Mulmun Ascended to be damaged for 60 seconds, or up to 20% of its maximum health.

An Assault Longtooth is spawned after killing 20 Assault Mulmun creatures, with a limit of 3 Assault Longtooth active at any one time.

Also, the Assault Longtooth has a Dodge Chance buff that makes melee and MindForce weapons relatively more effective at dealing damage to it than traditional ranged weapons.

Upon killing the Assault Mulmun Ascended boss, the instance stops spawning new creatures and the participant’s time is recorded for the current category, if that time is shorter than any previous runs in that category.

Pay attention to both positive and negative buff effects inside the Summer Mayhem.

You can only have a recorded time in a single Assault category at a time. Recording a new score with a higher leader board rank (regardless of category) will replace any previously-recorded time.

Annihilation Mode:

Interact with the Pile of Skulls inside the Annihilation event instance to begin spawning creatures and start the mission timer; the timer pauses automatically when leaving the instance.

Eliminate Mayhem Mulmuns to accumulate as many points as possible in 10 hours.

A random number of points (0, 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, or 5000) is automatically awarded after defeating one of the event instance creatures.

Once your 10-hour run is complete, your score is finalised and recorded on the event leader board. You can then start a new run to try to improve upon your previously-recorded rank.

The score from a subsequent run is only recorded if it would result in a higher leader board rank.

You can only have a recorded score in a single category at a time. Recording a new score with a higher leaderboard rank (regardless of category) will replace any previously-recorded score.

The top ten highest scorers (most accumulated points) in each category win prizes.

Event Rules:

This event is intended for solo hunters. Any attempt at abusing team mechanics or any other Entropia Universe systems or features in order to gain an unfair advantage over other participants will be grounds for disqualification from the event, forfeiture of any prizes, and possible sanctions imposed on one’s Entropia Universe account.

It is possible for participants to abandon the Annihilation mission and restart the event. In order to prevent excessive use of this feature and to protect the fairness of the event, any participant who abandons the Annihilation mission more than 3 times will be considered disqualified from the event and ineligible for prizes.

Bypassing or attempting to bypass any of the event instance entry or item restrictions will be grounds for disqualification from the event, forfeiture of any prizes, and possible sanctions imposed on one’s Entropia Universe account.

Anyone found using multiple accounts to gain an unfair advantage or to win prizes in multiple categories or divisions will forfeit all prizes and risk additional sanctions on their Entropia Universe account(s), including potential account termination.

Other Details:

Mayhem Assault and Mayhem Annihilation instances are accessed via the Global Events List from any planet in Entropia Universe.

In addition there are Mayhem Assault Training and Practice Annihilation areas. Browse the event list for the entrance appropriate for your avatar’s profession level.

Event Ends: July 1, 13:00 UTC 2019.

Event: Mul Rite Of Passage, Mul Alert

The Colonial Xenobiological Institute and the Calypso Defense Force have issued a warning about increased Mul activity. The Mul mutants, Mulmun, Muluk-hir and Mulaak´f, are well known for their increased violent behaviour during this time of year.

Mul's have been spotted near Fort Ithaca, Fort Pandora, Fort Zeus, and Jason Center.

The Colonial Xenobiological Institute has studied possible reasons for the Mul's behaviour for several seasons. The studies show that members of all Mul tribes assemble to take part in ritual dancing and brawling while becoming increasingly aggressive. The purpose of the rituals is believed to be a rite of passage connected to the annual migration season.

The Calypso Firearms Association has issued a number of Hunting Challenges for the Mul tribes, these are available from the Hunting Challenge Terminals. As the Mul's attack using their fists and feet, hunters are advised to enhance their armour with the corresponding plating types.

News: Crystal Palace Shares

In the previous few updates we have covered that crystal palaces would be the first land area in Entropia to be sold as shares and in the last update we seen this starting to be implemented, just like the deeds that currently exist in game, if purchased, you will be able to earn a percent of the hunting tax on Crystal Palace.

Currently the prices of the shares are set to cost 10 PED each during the starting period, and a total of 500,000 share are up for sale. The fund earned will go to the current land area owner, "Buzz Erik Lightyear", whom had trouble selling as a whole land area due to the price.

Revenue is generated from hunting activity in the four Crystal Palace biodomes, not including the cave areas. 95% of revenue is paid as dividends to shareholders.

5% of revenue is allocated for the cost of the Energized Fertilizer required for the running of the biodomes, event prizes, and other estate maintenance and improvements.

Tax rate in all biodomes will be initially set to 4.5%. MindArk states that these setting can potentially be voted on by shareholders in the future. Payments of the revenue will be payed every Monday.

The estate will be managed by the official avatar "MindArk CrystalPalace Manager". Energized Fertilizer necessary to maintain creature spawns in the biodomes will be acquired by "MindArk CrystalPalace Manager" at the normal auction at market prices.

Crystal Palace Space Station shares can be acquired via the new share center interface, or in the Entropia Universe Webshop. The new share center interface can be access by right clicking on the your PED card.

Currently you are only able to buy these shares. Crystal Palace shares will be able to be traded in the version update currently scheduled for mid September (approximately 120 days from initial sale).

Event: Easter Mayhem 2019

The Calypso Defence Force once again needs your help against the robot enemy!

The last few weeks have seen intense fighting between Robot forces and colonist at numerous locations on the continent Eudoria on Planet Calypso.

The fighting, part of a tactical strike against the robots, has allowed the Research and Development Institute to secure a hackable base matrix node.

In order to retrieve information from the node essentially all that needs to be done is to place an Research and Development Institute data interceptor above it and let the machine extract the information. The robots have already attacked and destroyed several data interceptors in the field.

The Calypso Defence Force needs your help to protect the data interceptor installation!

The Data Interceptor needs to stay intact for as long as possible. The robots are throwing waves of Evicerators, Spider Bombers, Defenders, Warlocks and Warriors against each data interceptor.

The Research and Development Institute cannot stress the importance of this mission enough and are willing to teleport any colonist volunteer from anywhere in Entropia Universe to the data interceptor’s location.

Robot Data For Mining Mission

As an extra bonus, the Research and Development Institute reports that new "Robot Data Fragments" have been salvaged by the data interceptor and can be found in robot loot. The Research and Development Institute deem these Data Fragments as crucial to their ongoing research and are willing to trade them for previously classified mining missions.

These mining missions offer a chance to uncover hidden "Robot Cache Strongboxes". The Robot Cache Strongboxes in turn are known to contain schematics for valuable high-end mining tools, among other items.

News: Toulan New Tokens And New Weapons

New Mirsal Tokens And Changes To Cards

In the recent Toulan update, New Toulan Mirsal Token (TMT) which will be utilised for various activities and access to instances across the planet, the TMT at this time is used for access to the Qaydar, Baydar and Shamsdar mini instances, with more planned uses for it in the near future.

The New Mirsal Exchanger can be located standing at Nahar City Center, for exchanging sabikah into TMT depending on its value. New sabikah (Bullion) items, in different values (5 Gram , 10 Gram, 20 Gram) can be acquired through CUHOF instances.

The Card Parts Left/Right/Center are no longer available through loot, Maher who now provides Qaydar/Baydar/Shamsdar full cards, trading them for TMT. Salhoob has new dialog options to trade card parts for universal ammo.

New Weapon

A number of new weapons have been released and are set to be discovered, but little information on how these weapons will be discovered, and little details on these weapons are available.

These weapons are more than likely to be found hunting, it is unlikely, but because hardly any information is available, we can not rule out these weapons being crafted.

Better Starting Experience

An overall step by step fix to Toulan's beginner experience has been applied. The new arrivals to the planet  now spawn in a better positioned and the starting area now has a wall preventing new players from wander off instead of following the beginner path.

The mission "Learning To Craft", involving Faiza and Mawlood, now has different requirements and the starter armour blueprint has been changed.

Supporting Sweaters

Vibrant sweat has been added to the recipe of the CUHOF Keys Blueprints and the CUHOF Instances exit spawn point is now better positioned to avoid getting stuck in the door.

Fix Updated Missions

Some missions have been updated and the Toulan team has suggested to abandon and re-take "Cold Cuts Research" (Sarhan standing to the West at Nahar City Center) and "Nahar Outfit Stage 1, 2 and 3" (Uthman standing at Nahar City Majlis).

Doing this will not clear the whole mission chain, only the mission you are on.

Deep Token Project Dropped By MindArk

Earlier this year MindArk developed and promoted DeepToken, a type of crypto currency token offering with the ambition of raising funds to create an intellectual property and digital asset bank, as well as improving Entropia Universe.

With time it has become evident that the ambitious project of DeepToken will not be able to be fulfilled. Therefore, the MindArk Board of Directors has decided to suspend the project and refund all the investments made to MindArk related to DeepToken.

Swedish Loot Box Laws

On the first of January 2019 a new Swedish law which affects lootbox systems that is used in many computer, mobile, and console games will go into effect. MindArk’s legal representatives has advised them on this new law and therefore MindArk need's to take the necessary steps to comply with this new regulation.

The consequences of the new law will be that users located using Swedish IP will no longer be allowed to purchase Strongboxes or Strongbox keys in the Entropia Universe web shop from this date.

It will still be possible for anyone in Entropia Universe to find boxes within Entropia Universe, but users with Swedish IP will not be able to open them unless they have Strongbox Keys acquired prior to January 1, 2019.

Strongbox Keys acquired prior to January 1, 2019 will continue to function even for users in Sweden, but they will not be able to purchase new Strongbox Keys from this date.

If you do not reside in Sweden or use a Swedish IP Strongboxes and Strongbox Keys will continue to work like previously, this change only affect users in Sweden or with a Swedish IP.

Announcement Of Crystal Palace Deeds

A hardly mentioned announcement was made back in December by MindArk, that a possible  500,000 available shares equal to 100% of the Crystal Palace's land area and will be sold for 10 PED or $1.00 USD each.

The now 13 year old Crystal Palace consists of four different dome locations, featuring two unique creature to hunt. When the Crystal Palace was originally sold to the current private owner in 2009, it was one of many times a Guinness Book of Records title holder. Shareholders will get a proportional cut of the total loot collected across all four domes. in 2018, the Crystal Palace earned an approximate return on investment of 17% for its current owner.

Buzz Erik Lightyear the current owner of Crystal Palace has made a public statement on the matter,
"In the beginning of 2018 I had been thinking about the idea to sell Crystal Palace. It has been a great honor and it has been very exciting, fun and rewarding to have owned it all these years. But it was on my mind that perhaps I needed to move on from Crystal Palace, as owning such a large investment didn't make as much sense anymore for me due to real life issues."

Buzz continues to talk about his interaction with MindArk,
"I asked Mindark again about this issue and what can be done. After these discussions they suggested to me the idea to turn Crystal Palace into a Deed sale. I felt very optimistic about this new idea! A new evolution for Crystal Palace. It was not only a great solution to selling Crystal Palace as I had been thinking about all year... But it really felt like a win-win situation."

Buzz also shared his vision for the the future of Crystal Palace,
"This would give many players, hunters, and investors the opportunity to own a part of Crystal Palace! I love the idea of that. The future of Crystal Palace could be great. Having large amounts of people who invest in it would mean more would want it to be successful. This could bring new opportunities for events or other exciting things that could happen in the future. And all of these positive things would increase the revenue for all of the future deed holders."

Buzz even goes on to say what we can expect,
"Mindark would be taking care of the deeds, sale and everything they need to do in order to implement and make this a reality. They have valued Crystal Palace and they will share the sale revenue in order to accommodate this change and costs associated with such an endeavour. After the announcement many people have been asking me for more information about it. I hope MA will be able to give some more details for all those who had questions about it all in the near future."

User Interface Update

On the 19th of Feb, version 16 was one of the most major updates to Entropia Universe's user interface since version 10, the CryEngine update in 2009.

This update introduces a number changes and enhancements to the controls, the movement, the camera and the targeting systems. To anyone picking up the controls for the first time will quickly handle the new controls, but older player will find it a struggle.

One of the major improvement to the system is the abilit
y to quickly access the auto use tool, threw a mouse click or a single key press, with no need to toggle. The auto targeting, auto using tool and the auto move to targets have been highly improved and has been stream lined into one simple process.

Camera movement and manual WSAD movement with the camera is still something that needs a little more attention, MindArk in following updates addressed some of these concerns, adding more camera control in the options window.

Older players instantly notices a number of useful feature and control have also been removed from the action library, one of which is the ability to grab someone or something status/health bars. Auto use tool has now been replace with interact or use tool and vehicle up is now jump.

Overall the update has been received well in the community among the newer players, the older players are still adjusting with a mixed bag of opinions.

Two updates have been briskly released by MindArk with more updates to be expected soon speculated to be focused more around the camera controls and movement.
